Dear Can-Am Roadster Owner,
This notice is sent to you in accordance with the requirements of the National Traffic and Motor
Vehicle Safety Act, the Canada Motor Vehicle Safety Act, the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency
(EPA), the California Air Resources Board (CARB) and Environment Canada. Bombardier
Recreational Products Inc. and BRP US Inc. (“BRP“) have decided that a defect which relates to
motor vehicle safety exists on certain Can-Am Roadster models and are conducting a safety recall.
Our records show that you own a potentially affected vehicle.
What is the potential problem?
The fuel cap may not seal properly the fuel tank filler neck. Fuel vapors in the presence of an ignition
source could result in a fire.
What should you do?
Install the new and improved fuel cap provided in this box and discard the old one. If you had the
fuel cap replaced at your own expense before you received this letter, you may be eligible to receive
reimbursement for the cost of obtaining a pre-notification remedy of the problem associated with this
recall.
What to do if you feel this notice is an error?
This notice was mailed to you according to the most current information we have available. If you no
longer own this vehicle or the owner's information in this notice is incorrect, please follow the
instructions on the enclosed card.

If you believe that the dealer or BRP has failed or is unable to remedy the defect within a reasonable
time, you may submit a complaint to the Administrator, National Highway Traffic Safety
Administration, 1200 New Jersey Avenue S.E. Washington, D.C. 20590, or call the toll free Auto
Safety Hot Line at 1-888-327-4236 (TTY: 1-800-424-9153), or go to http://www.safercar.gov. If you
are a vehicle lessor, federal law requires that any vehicle lessor receiving this recall notice must
forward a copy of this notice to the lessee within ten days.
Note: A fuel cap that is not sealing properly with the fuel tank filler neck may cause the vehicle to
release air pollutants exceeding the U.S. Environmental Protection Agency (EPA), the California Air
Resources Board (CARB) and Environment Canada standards resulting in potentially failing a state
or local emissions inspection.
As defined in Title 40 of the Code of Federal Regulations, the California Code of Regulations and the
Canadian Environmental Protection Act, as a manufacturer, we are also required to correct vehicles
that may be emitting pollutants in excess of emission standards. These emission standards were
established to protect the public health or welfare from air pollution.
