Ultimate mud machine

The new air box was reconfigured and placed at a higher and more centralized location for filtering and processing air. The no-tools air box features a dual-room design that improves the air filtration process and the quality of air by capturing dirty air in one portion of the box and clean air in another section before it sends the air to the engine. Along with the relocated air box the air intake is also higher in the frame to improve the machine’s capabilities in the mud and water. Accessing the filter for maintenance and inspection only requires the removal of the seat, console plastic and exterior push plate. The air filter is securely attached to the air box housing with a screw-on system and push plate that work in tandem to create a tight seal.
Revised for 2013, the 650cc liquid-cooled Rotax V-Twin powerplant now produces 62 horsepower and can easily outperform competitive 700cc-class models. With an unmatched power-to-weight ratio and electronic fuel injection (46mm throttle body), the single overhead cam engine is efficient, imposing and invigorating. Regardless of temperature or altitude, EFI ensures optimal performance from the engine at all times. The Rotax engine remains controllable and offers usable power for a wide array of riders and situations. Progressive throttle control means the power remains manageable in slow-speed mud crawls or in faster paced trail runs.
The front uses large 214mm disc brakes with twin-piston calipers for superior stopping power. At the rear, the models use a single twin-piston caliper and 214mm hydraulic disc brake that is located in the right, rear wheel.
With a dive-control geometry for better cornering and vehicle-braking dynamics. Our Double A-arm front suspension uses a shortened spindle to reduce kickback and deliver better steering feel. The 9 in. (22.9 cm) of suspension travel increases trail comfort and mud-riding capability.
Unique to Can-Am and inspired by trophy trucks, the proven Torsional Trailing arm Independent (TTI) rear suspension offers increased rigidity, improved suspension travel at 9.3 inches (23.6 cm) and includes a removable external sway bar. The TTI, which offers up to 75 percent less moving parts than competitive systems, was designed to eliminate tire scrub and camber changes when the suspension moves up and down. This setup, which improves ride quality and suspension travel, keeps the ATV in a straight line and requires less steering adjustments than competitive models. Lower pivot points provide geometric squatting for improved traction and the transfer of power to the ground.
The Outlander offers a 1,300-pound towing capacity and a 2-inch receiver hitch as standard equipment.
Outlander models feature the exclusive D.E.S.S. anti-theft system. The ATV will not start unless a coded microchip in the key matches a code embedded in the engine control module. It means only you can start your vehicle.
The high-strength skid plate is made from proven materials and is designed for supreme protection and has the ability to slide over certain obstacles.
Tells the rider everything in one easy glance. The LCD display provides the rider with a speedometer, tachometer (bar graph RPM, bottom bar numerical RPM), odometer, trip and hour meters, diagnostic center, gear position, engine hour meter, 4x4 indicator, temperature and engine lights, fuel gauge, clock and even an auto shut off after 15 minutes.
The Outlander taillights offer a stylish design and increased visibility for trail riding.
These aluminum footpegs provide added grip while riding in mud.
Located in place of the front rack, the Can-Am Outlander 650 X mr's radiator is kept out of the mud and wears a protective, vented cover, ensuring all-day rides in the deep goop. The large, efficient radiator offers around 22 kW of cooling capacity.
The center-less design reduces unsprung weight and offers improved strength. Durability was increased in strategic areas while excess material was eliminated in other spots to save weight.
The 28-in. Maxxis Mudzilla∞ 6-ply tires were selected for their exceptional mud-friendly characteristics. Large lugs and an aggressive tread pattern are design to give a maximum traction in the mud and a smooth ride to the next mud hole. Tire offers rim guard for improved wheel protection.
The front bumper is factory installed and covered by a factory warranty. It protects the front plastic and lights of the Outlander 650 X mr and offers a more distinct look.
The Tri-Mode DPS features three rider-selectable modes (MIN, MED and MAX) of steering depending on rider preference. The system is designed to offer less assist at high speed and more assist at low speed. This technology also includes a Direct Link setup that uses advanced magnetic field sensors for faster response to steering input than competitive technology, which then minimizes steering lag. Less kickback and more trail feedback is supplied to the operator because of the 50:1 final gear ratio, which is the largest in the industry. A high-capacity 50-amp motor means the DPS will never fade with heavy use and all DPS-equipped models also come with the Visco-Lok† QE.
